I'm not sure if this is the proper forum to ask for help. If not, please excuse me and kindly direct me to a proper place..
I have WebScarab 20070505-1631 installed. It is the latest one I found. I was using it a few moths ago to intercept some GETs from my local host. I was using IE6.
Now I have IE8 and even though I have all the settings correct on the browser for using WebScarab as a proxy, nothing displays on the summary page and the intercept I have (that worked before) doesn't work. I tested again in Firefox and no problem. I tested IE8 going to other than localhost and it works. I must use IE8 for further testing.
Does anyone have an idea of what the problem could be accessing localhost and how to get around it?
Thanks for any help you can give. Again, apologies if this is not the right place to ask this type of question.

Also, if you are using IE8 to test local addresses, make sure that "Bypass proxy server for local addresses" is not checked. In general, this sounds more like an IE configuration issue rather than a WebScarab issue since it is working for IE6 and Firefox.
Permalink Reply by Bob DeMaio on February 1, 2012 at 6:03pm Thanks for your response. I had done all that you mentioned. I found the answer by contacting the creator of WebScarab (I'm not on my work machine and don't have the original reference). It turns out that starting with IE7, if you use a proxy and reference localhost, the proxy will ignore it. To get around the problem, I changed references to local host to localhost. So it looks like this:
http:\\localhost.:7001/....
Permalink Reply by Niko on April 9, 2012 at 8:14am I there, I'm trying to make WebScarab works properly, the point is that it doesn't seem to capture HTTP sessions at all. The scenario is the following: I'm running WebScarab (localhost:8080) and I'm browsing on WebGoat with a proxy set to localhost:8008. When I do something on the WebGoat site WebScarab doesn't show anything! I'm tried using browser such as Chrome, Firefox, even Mantra but still no results for me, sigh! Anyone who could help me? I'd really like to find out more things on WebGoat (a very useful framework) but since WebGoat doesn't work is impossible for me to go on..thanks in advice..
