Group Description

The OWASP Austin Study Group is intended to provide an organized gathering of like-minded IT professionals who want to learn more about application security.   This is done through mini-discussions, demos, presentations, and series of meetings to cover more involved topics (i.e. book topics).   Generally the topics will be participant-led, meaning that attendees will volunteer their time to present or lead a discussion, whether a one-time presentation of a topic they wish to review or need help with, or walk through topics of a particular chapter of a book being covered.  There will still be OWASP leadership involved with scheduling and such, but the idea is to get a better “hands-on” approach to create a more productive learning environment.  We learn more when we are involved.

Please visit the Austin OWASP Wiki page for more information.  Note that we are now using Slack for study group communications.

  • What are the details on the WAHH bookstudy at Rapid7?
  • hello everybuddy,
I want to know how to hide server ip address which used by banking app to fetch data?anyonw know?
  • PACKT Publishing is having a sale. All their eBooks are on sale for $5 each--I think the sale lasts through 12/31/14 (but not sure) . I don't know how good the books are, as I just downloaded a couple to try them out. There are some videos as well.

They have a blog on application development and hardware that I am intending to check out more as well.
  • Oh, try this.  (Settings->Email).  There's a bunch of check boxes to choose what you want to receive.

  • I apparently missed the conversation about today's book club being canceled for ISSA, which I wanted to go to but never got any notification on it. I since realized I was already subscribed to the ISSA google calendar, but didn't have alerts turned on. I think that should fix a few of my issues.

  • Where you wrote this comment there should be a "Follow" link underneath.  That only works for the comment wall though.  I don't know if there's a way to get notified of new threads.  Sucky, I know.  But you should be able to follow the threads once they are started.

  • Is there a way to enable email notifications for new threads and replies? I keep missing stuff because I don't check this often. Apparently I get notifications for these "comments", but not new threads or replies in that thread (above).

  • Hi, I was supposed to lead the study tomorrow, but cannot make it due to conflict at work. Extremely sorry for the last minute note, I can do next week instead.

  • Just a reminder - because of the holiday, we will not be meeting today.

  • Not sure if I will be able to make it tomorrow for study group. Win8 class, so much fun :(
